ROSLYN LANGLOIS

(M.Mus., B. Mus., T. T. C.,A. Mus.A.,), Australian concert pianist, from the island state of Tasmania, has spent her adult life combining music making with many aspects of Christian mission, giving her the opportunity to give recitals in nations as diverse as Vanuatu, Mongolia and Latvia.

Concert Pianist

Australian Roslyn Langlois’ experience as a concert soloist was launched when as a teenager she won the state final of the Concerto and Vocal Competition of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), the national broadcaster of classical music in Australia, in her home state of Tasmania. She graduated with first class honors in performance, from the Melbourne University conservatorium of Music, and was subsequently a frequent soloist with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, a solo recitalist, live in concert and in state and national broadcasts, and associate artist to many of Australia’s fine instrumentalists and singers. She gained her Master of Music in performance in 1992 from the University of Tasmania.

After her farewell concert from her home city of Hobart Tasmania, the critique in the state newspaper read “…she delighted a capacity audience with quality performances…transparency of her Bach, warmth of her Schumann and the scintillating interpretation of Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” clearly demonstrated her mastery of the keyboard..” (John Stafford, Mercury, Feb. ‘99.)

USA

In 1999 Roslyn and her husband John came to live in USA to work as Director of Piano Studies and Director of Pastoral Care respectively of the Masterworks Festival, an annual performing summer arts festival established in 1997, now held at Winona Lake, Indiana, under the auspices of the Christian Performing Artists’ Fellowship. This exciting event brings together aspiring young artists from the USA and beyond, and faculty from major US and overseas orchestras, music schools, theater, dance and opera companies.

In the many concerts held during the four week festival, Roslyn has performed in recitals and as concerto soloist with other faculty who come from such major US artistic institutions as the Cleveland, National, Boston and Pittsburgh symphony orchestras, the Juillard School and the Curtis Institute. Before moving to Winona Lake, now the international headquarters of Christian Performing Artists’ Fellowship, Roslyn played in solo and chamber music recitals on the Millennium Stage of the Kennedy Centre, Washington DC, at Fort Myer’s Brucker Hall, and organized a concert series annually in historic St Paul’s, Haymarket, her local church. Roslyn was a member of the Asaph Ensemble at the Terrace Theater (Kennedy Center) in the world premiere of works by contemporary composer Dr. Patrick Kavanaugh in March 2002. Roslyn was a featured solo artist in the 33rd season of the Community Concert Association in Virginia.
